This past weekend I took a quick trip to Palermo with Ale. We headed off straight from work and took a quick flight down to Sicily. We were lucky (totally unlucky actually) that there was a rare storm hitting Sicily this weekend. So, anticipating tons of rain and being stuck inside our hotels turkish spa, we were pleasantly surprised when it barely rained at all!
About 3 years ago, I went to Sicily with my brother. We had some major adventures (cars driving down the wrong side of the road, pizza chefs hanging out on the street instead of cooking, no finding any people anywhere), so I was curious to compare my experience after having lived in Italy for over a year.
We were able to see everything there was to see in Palermo by keeping a tight, yet relaxed schedule- ate incredible food-- canoli, arancina, foccacia, some not so great spleen sandwich, went to the beach -- just to look, saw a symphony concert and still spent some quality time at the spa. Not a bad way to spend the weekend :-)
