Carnevale...in Venice! Amazing. I have been wanting to go to Venice for awhile and what better time to go than at Carnevale...which is exactly what I did this last weekend. Carnevale proved to be less raucous than expected but was amazingly fun nonetheless. We started the weekend off with spritz (yes, actually better in Venice-- the olive they add is a nice touch), continued it with some baccala', prosecco, random contemplations about the foundation of Venice (all wood poles...amazing) and costume watching, and finished it in the freezing cold with plenty of vin brule'...and ya, I guess that about sums it up :-)

A snowy Rome
It snowed in Rome for the first time in 26 years! The whole city was in a panic of anticipation over the snow, work even sent us home at 1pm, and shortly after the snow started! I got a little trapped in Monteverde and then took a scary taxi ride home (imagine snow covered streets with no salt or plows). The taxi driver was even a little nervous, and pulled to the side of the road and said "che casino, signorina!!"
As you can imagine, Rome is at a stand still and is slowly recovering from the storm. But kinda fun to be trapped in snow covered Rome. che bello!
